Ingredients: 74% dried figs, 20% almonds, 4% anise seeds and 2% cinnamon.
The fig bread can be presented whole, diced or in thin slices.
This bread has been commonly known for decades as the “poor man’s bread” due to the abundance of fig trees that were to be found in the orchards, which were profited by the country people because of the high calorie count and nutritional value, however, the younger generation considers it to be the perfect complement in different culinary uses, with it being highly recommended as an accompaniment to aged cow’s milk cheese, sheep’s milk cheese or even blue cheeses.
It does not necessarily have to be refrigerated, but if it is stored in a cool dry place or even in the fridge it can be conserved for a longer period.
